Usually the search engines have the ability to find and index your website so you don't have to submit it. Try to add your website to some web directories or place a link on a page already indexed and that should be fine.

I agree that you do not need to submit your site to search engines because they will crawl and index your site. Just do directory submission instead. And better submit it to several quality web directories.

I am a bit surprised that you would not recommend submitting to the top four. While your answer is correct, I would also submit. I prefer to go to the source directly.

You can use google search for more list of available SE on web .As far as I know the top 3 SE are yahoo, google and msn
