The problem with quick links is that they rarely have lasting, or even temporary, value. Quick links tend to be easy to get, directories, forum sigs, purchased cheap blog links, etc etc etc.. And while getting tens of thousands of these links may help a bit, you are better off putting real effort in to gather solid links with real value.. Product/site reviews, customers actually talking about you, getting published as an authority on your subject, etc etc etc..

Sure, those are a lot harder to do, but the ROI is better than the same effort on "quick links"
