Get a theme for your article, jot down as many ideas as possible and make these ideas your subheadings. Then write a paragraph or two under each subheading.

I personally - nowadays - only spend 2-3 hours (preferably less) on my first article; once it is written and published by a good directory, I then completely rewrite it a few times and submit to other directories.
