Focused Keyword Brainstorming
You need to generate a list of keywords that present an opportunity to build successful online campaigns. Start by brainstorming a list of product phrases. You can use a variety of resources for this process and over time you will be able to determine which resources are the best. A few ideas include:
* Your brain - Think about products that you are currently interested in and jot down these ideas. * Shopping Comparison Sites - Amazon, eBay, Shopzilla, Overstock, HSN, QVC; all of these sites can provide insights into the products that people are searching for and purchasing. Browse through the categories, especially any "Hot Product" listings. * Infomercials - If you are a night owl or burn the candle at both ends (like I do) then you have plenty of opportunity to flip the TV on and catch early morning or late night infomercials. You can get some great ideas for hot products through this channel. This is not an exhaustive list. Ideas can come from anywhere. You might see a billboard on the highway, hear something on the radio or get an idea from a conversation at a party. The bottom line is...pay attention and take notes. Don't be embarrassed to carry around a small notepad to jot down your ideas. Once you have a good base of product phrases, start expanding. Stay focused and don't self edit. You are likely to come up with several keywords through this phase that are not viable, but it is better to keep your mind open and keep your momentum than to analyze each keyword as you think of it. That part will come next when we analyze your list for keyword popularity.
